SUPPORT PROJECT FOR FOOD SECURITY IN THE WATSA AND FARADJE TERRITORIES IN THE NZOPI VILLAGE

Project Overview

  1. Location: Nzopi village located 23km from the city of Durba on the road Faradje.
  2. Project beneficiaries: the entire population of Durba and Watsa and Faradje.
  3. Project objective: For over a year DCMS has initiated an agro-industrial project with the aim of contributing to improving food security on the one hand and reducing poverty among young people in the project area.



ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS

During this first year DCMS in its field section opened a field of 20ha where it uses the local workforce consisting of young people.

3 hectares have been exploited for the cultivation of beans, 2 for soybeans, 9 for the cultivation of corn, and vary according to the growing seasons.

Comment
:It is clear to note the low rate of production of the crops grown in this region. There are multiple reasons:

  • The poor quality of seeds bought at the market due to lack of seed production center in the area.
  • Climate disturbances
  • Soil heterogeneity
